Meet Your Principals

Message from Principal Dr. Dalia Coronel

Welcome to the 2024 - 2025 school year and to Billy Mitchell elementary, home of the aviators! Since its inception, Billy Mitchell elementary has dedicated itself to providing the best education and experience to all TK-5th grade students in the general education, dual immersion and Pathways (special day class) settings. Our students are engaged, curious about the world they live in and demonstrate SOAR by staying safe, showing an outstanding attitude, and always being respectful and responsible and ready to learn.

We are all very excited about the 2024-2025 school year, where classrooms once again will be full with activities and ideas that challenge and inspire our students. Our amazing teachers work hard to create an exceptional learning environment for our students. They support our student’s learning by challenging them to use their critical thinking skills to solve problems, learn how to read and write and most importantly focus on the student as a whole, by supporting their social emotional needs.

Like our students, you are a valuable part of our school community and I invite you to join us in the wonderful teaching and learning that occurs every day. You can support your child and our school community by joining the PTA, attending our School Site Council/English Learner Advisory Committee meetings, participating in our parent workshops, and joining us at our Family Night events. I will share a weekly newsletter which outlines upcoming events and highlights the wonderful things that are taking place at school. I also encourage you to follow us on Instagram and to join ParentSquare.

This school year, Billy Mitchell Elementary and the Lawndale Elementary School District will focus on the following four goals:

Goal 1 – Increase Academic Achievement
Goal 2 – Ensure Access and Equity
Goal 3 – Improve Parent and Student Engagement
Goal 4 – Provide 21st Century Learning Environments

Thank you for your support and commitment to your child’s education.

In partnership,
Dalia Coronel, Ed.D.
