Principal Dr. Dalia Coronel
Dr. Dalia Coronel is the Principal at Billy Mitchell Elementary School. In this role, she is responsible for creating a schoolwide vision that is committed to increasing student success and establishing a positive school culture and safe learning environment. Dr. Coronel’s varied experience has enabled her to gain a unique perspective on identifying the needs of students district wide. Her desire to work with students is inspired by her own upbringing as a first-generation Latina who attended LAUSD public schools in South Central Los Angeles. As a graduate from CSULA with degrees in English and Education and USC with a doctoral degree in educational leadership, has been valuable when connecting and building relationships with students. She brings forth a passion for education, student success, and a willingness to learn in order to continue her development as a professional. She has spent 17 years serving in multiple capacities--teacher, department chair, assistant principal, Extended School Year summer principal, interim principal and now, principal of Billy Mitchell Elementary. Dr. Coronel is passionate in providing students the tools they need to thrive and grow as learners. She recognizes that the first step in learning is to ensure that students feel safe, respected, and valued to help create a learning atmosphere where their voices are heard and their opinions matter. Assistant Principal Marysol Perez
Our Assistant Principal, Marysol Perez, comes with over 15 years of experience in the field of education. Her dedication to advocating and supporting students and families has led her to work as a dual immersion teacher, English Learning curriculum and instruction specialist, language arts specialist, and now as an administrator. She holds a multiple subject teaching credential and a bilingual authorization, a Master's Degree in Bilingual Education from Loyola Marymount University, and a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Marysol’s strong commitment to education, advocacy, and equity has led her to in-depth work in educational policy and advocacy issues revolving around Early Childhood Education, Bilingual Education, and Special Education programs through national grassroots organizations by part in policy committees and lobbying in our State and Nation’s capitols. Marysol is an active Lawndale community member who shares her life with her husband, Eder, and two children, Melody and Maximo, who attend LESD schools.
